Work Benches

I built each of the benches to have its own look. They were all the same size, and each was ADA compliant, but they had different corners, stains, legs, etc..

The first incarnations of the benches had pine board tops. I knew that these surfaces would take a beating, but I underestimated the extent to which they would be abused. They were battered to a pulp in just a few months.

So I took them back down to the shop and upgraded them to have tops made of a single sheet of Baltic birch. The new tops have nice, rounded edges and are easily replaceable. When one side becomes battered, you can simply unbolt it and flip it over for a new surface. When that side becomes battered, it is an easy matter to cut a new top and replace it.
